Maxwell and read everything you can about leadership he has to offer.  I have devoured “The 21 Irrefutable laws of Leadership”, “The 17 Essential Qualities of a Team Player”, “Developing the Leader Within You”, “The Winning Attitude”, “Developing the Leaders Around You” and “Becoming a Person of Influence”.

They are all outstanding reads and you will quickly gain an incredible amount of knowledge about being, recognizing and mentoring leadership.

They say in MLM Direct Sales the faster you can identify your leaders the faster you will have success in MLM Direct Sales. I must admit that I have used techniques I have read in the above mentioned books and just recently two strong leaders have appeared in my organization.  Was that luck or was that preparation on my part  I believe it was a combination of both.  Once you read some of this material you too will see that Building the Right Team for MLM Success Is an Art and a Science at the same time!

While looking for a story to motivate some business associates into taking some positive action in their lives; I faced a dilemma.  They understood the reasons why logically, but just did not have the emotional fire burning inside of them to move into action.  “You can bring a horse to water but you can’t make them drink”.

There are people who talk the talk, but do not feel comfortable walking  the walk.  You may know similar types out there as well.  Great individuals, love them dearly, but just needing that extra…….. eh…. Kick.

They could explain the paint off the side of a house as to why they need to be out there developing alternative streams of income…..  However, they speak with the logical side of their brain.  Now the emotional side of their brain, where passions fury exists, was just not ignited.

Then I came across this short story and read it to a few of them and suddenly the light came on for a few.  I hope this may be of some use to you in igniting the flame in a person near and dear to you.  Igniting the flame that will move them into making that decision, which will change their life forever.

This story was written about 100 years ago, but it is short and to the point.  But most importantly it is very visible and easy to see.  I hope it helps you as much as it help me.

Don’t Quit Direct Sales MLM until you have Nothing Left

Sometimes we all need a little tough love.  It may not be what we want to hear, but it is what we need to hear at that time.  We  can all relate to a parent, teacher, coach or mentor telling us to push, harder, farther, again and again.  I can still hear my old football coach exhorting me on up the “hill” just ONE more time.  I can hear it in myself telling my kids leave it all on the field.  Well in life this applies as well, when we reach that wall, we need someone to just push us a little further.  There is more gas in our tanks, even when we think the tank is on EMPTY….  We can all go just one more LAP……. PUSH and Don’t Stop!

In 1816 his family was forced out of their home.
In 1818 his mother died when he was 9 years old.
In 1832 he lost his job and was defeated for state legislature.

We all can learn from such perseverance and determination.

Stop just setting goals…. and resolutions.

Take the Mercedes-Benz or Porsche pictures off of the refrigerator and put them in your drive way.

Stop hoping and wishing and start doing and living.

A one percent change in ACTION can turn into a one hundred percent change in your life.

Nike says “Just DO IT”.

Stop setting goals and Choose results by utilizing a mentor in your Life.

Does Tiger Woods have a coach?  Did Michael Jordan have a coach?  Don’t Championship teams in most sport have coaches?

No matter how great the raw talent or how bad the situation, a mentor who is very knowledgeable about a subject working with a determined individual can turn any situation around.  If you are coachable, willing to learn, and want something different in your life, it is possible.  Let someone help you get beyond just writing an annual list of objectives.  Learn how to move beyond this phase, if you are interested please contact me.

I recently heard actor John Malkovich say “Hope is what we Cling to when Reality has left us Nothing Else” on Saturday Night Live, during a comedic Christmas sketch.

The statement froze me in my seat and I of course froze my TIVO.  I re-played the statement over 7 or 8 times stunned each time I heard the phrase.  It was chilling because under the audience laughter was a real sense of reality related to our utilization of Hope.  We hope for this and we hope for that all day long, for months and even years.  Some live full lives just hoping….. Never getting.

It really hit me that Hope may in some respect be the opiate of the people…could that be possible?

What is Hope?  Webster’s Dictionary says ” Hope is to cherish a desire with anticipation”.   Well then what is Cherish?  ”Cherish is to entertain or harbor in the mind deeply and resolutely”.  It says nothing about getting it.

Both Hope and Cherish are contained within the mind and that is good but you need something else.  You need ACTION; because without ACTION you may never, ever, get what you’re hoping for.

Well what is Action?  ”Action is the accomplishment of a thing usually over a period of time, in stages, or with the possibility of repetition”.  Now that is Powerful; the definition of ACTION starts with the word ACCOMPLISHMENT.

It seems to me that, the real key here is the phrase “To Do”.  Now based on my Windsor High School 10th grade Spanish class, the translation of the phrase “To do” is the word “hacer” which literally means the following “to do, to make, to perform, to force, to become”..… I think you may be getting my point with this exercise.

These are all very physical expressions; they are not just mental but very physical.  Let’s recap and get a few things clear moving forward in our lives.   Here are a few suggestions for change in your vocabulary.

Replace HOPE with KNOW.

Replace IF with WHEN.

Replace PROBLEM with CHALLENGE.

Replace WHY with WHAT or HOW.

Replace GOALS with PLANS.

And eliminate the word TRY.

Remember that which you focus on expands, so you just keep getting better all the time.

Unlock your potential and become what you think about most of the time.  Successful people think about what they want and most importantly HOW to get it.  Unsuccessful people think about what they don’t have or their problems and worries.

Take control of your life and create your own future…….NOW!

Think about what is the ROI on the taxpayers investment on a bunch of obsolete bombers and fighter jets sitting in the desert, that taxpayer money could have built new schools for our children or mass transit in our communities or…. or….. Think of the possibilities….  You do the math!  As Kojack used to say ” Who loves ya baby?  Corporate America or the Govt… You better learn to love yourself.

You better wake up and realize that you need to take control of your life and find a way to take care of you and your family through residual income in this current economic situation.

With two graphs and a basic understanding of 1st year college Economics…. good old ECON 101, you too can be an economic genius.   Let me take you back to the Fall semester of your Freshman Year in College, for me it was at The University of Connecticut.

My econ Professor said “A nation can choose to produce either guns or butter …remember those terms….. guns or butter.   Guns or Butter describes the relationship between a nation’s investment in defense (Guns) and civilian goods (Butter).   In this situation, a nation has to choose between two options when spending its finite resources. It can buy either guns or butter, or a combination of both.  This can be seen as an analogy for choices between defense and civilian spending in more complex economies.”

That all sounded pretty reasonable to me at the time and should sound reasonable to you as well.
However, when you actually look at the current data what you see is shocking.  I will let you see the information for yourself.  You make your own decision.
But think about this when you do look at the graphs.

Where is the American taxpayers money for our Basic Infrastructure?  Schools?  Roads? Health Care?  Research and Development on non-military things?  Social Security? Mass Transportation?  Parks? Renewable Energy?  Our children? Our Elderly? …….?

You better wake up and realize that you need to take control of your life and find a way to take care of you and your family through residual income in this current economic situation.

Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and thanks.  As I sit here by the fire looking out the window reflecting on my life.  Here is what comes to mind.

My youngest sister is on the road with her family from Connecticut.  My middle sister is on the road with her family from South Florida. They are both on their way to my home in Atlanta to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family.  I will constantly worry about their safety until they arrive.  When they get here I will be very thankful with hugs and kisses; and the whole thing starts all over again when they leave for home, until they call me and tell me they have safely arrived back to their respective homes.  A completed circle of love and longing is what we do every year.

However, the oldest of my three sisters was unable to make it this year from her home outside of Boston. Her best friend in the whole wide world lost her beloved mother just a few days ago.  Her friend was in Ghana and had to return to bury her mother; my sister is staying back home to assist her friend in what every manner she needs assistance.  I would like to take a special moment to extend my condolences to my sister’s friend, I hope that this moment of deep pain finds its mark in your heart to help provide you the vision to see the rest of your life in the perspective that you need to see it in.  God is with you and so is your Mom.

As much as I would like to write an article about happy and wonderful things, I can’t help but reflect about how this time of year must be hard for some of the families of slain soldiers who will not be returning from either war.

My father was a policeman slain in the line of duty when I was 6 years old; I’m the oldest sibling with three younger sisters.  I became man of the house at 6.  It made me grow up early and keep things in perspective.  My mom was a single parent and never remarried and she passed away at the young age of 48.  I know first hand that we are not guaranteed anything in life.  Things can change from one heartbeat to another; you need to take control of your life and live your life to its fullest.

I am simply saying have a great Thanksgiving but remember to pay some homage to those loved ones who are no longer with us; and to be thankful for the time they graced us with their presence.  Remember we are only here for but a sliver of an eternity, do not take others for granted.  Make those phone calls, and visits to the sick and shut in, tell those you love you love them and try to do it on the regular.

For those who are traveling like my sisters, I wish you well and do not forget to call those who are patiently waiting for you to let them know you are ok.  For those of you like me sitting by the window waiting, it is a circle of love and longing, be thankful for the love.
