Remember Caribbean Rhythms on BET with Rachael Stuart Baker

Remember Caribbean Rhythms on BET with Rachael Stuart Baker.

Rachael Stuart

Recently on my travels to Jamaica I had the absolute pleasure of meeting a legend in the Caribbean Music scene Rachael Stuart a Jamaican Canadian beauty queen, model and television host. A former Miss Jamaica; she is best known as the one-time host of “Caribbean Rhythms” on BET. She also hosted “Planet Groove” on BET and is married to Paxton Baker BET’s Vice President.  Being her “Biggest Fan”,  I was stunned by her beauty, openness and friendliness as we spoke about a variety of things on a recent flight to Jamaica.

When one looks at various cultural musical contributions all around the globe one region stands head and shoulders above all the rest in its contributions from a musical perspective… The Caribbean Islands.

From the melodic and soothing sounds of reggae from Jamaica to the hot passionate sounds of Salsa from Cuba & Puerto Rico. No region on earth has as much musical diversity as this small but culturally diverse region.

The music of the Caribbean is a magnificent grouping of musical genres. They are each syntheses of African, European, Indian and indigenous peoples influences. Some of the styles to gain wide popularity outside of the Caribbean include Reggae, Zouk, Salsa, Calypso, Reggaeton and Merengue. Caribbean, Central American and South American music.
